BREAKING NEWS: Loughner to Plead Guilty in Tucson Shopping Center Shooting On Tuesday, Receiving Life In Prison Sentence
Jared Loughner is expected to plead guilty on Tuesday in the Tucson massacre that left six people dead and then-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords wounded along with 12 others, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times.
Citing two anonymous sources, the newspaper said psychiatric experts who examined him believe Loughner is now able to understand the severity of what happened on Jan. 8, 2011. Those experts are expected to testify at the Tuesday hearing, which the court system currently lists as a status conference and not a change of plea hearing.
Update (10:42 p.m.): An anonymous source tells the Associated Press that Loughner is expected to be sentenced to life in prison under the plea agreement.
